I have no more canned blog posts. I’m writing this on Thursday, August 18th and will be posting it the same day! But alas, I am going to write about something that happened last week. I have been lazy about uploading and editing photos and I have hundreds of photos from our vacation. I want to get them all on the blog for my family, so I’m going to try to plow through them quickly.
So day two of our vacation in Hilton Head was Sunday, August 7th.
Early morning cuteness.
Cody played with this little car constantly all week long.
The steering wheel made a perfect seat.
Janet and I went for an early 3 mile run together.
It was hot and sweaty, but beautiful and awesome.
I think this was the first time EVER that my sister and I have gone for a run together. And we’re 40-ish. Love that.
While we were running, Chad took some photos of more morning fun with Cody.
Cody loves Grandaddy Mack. They really bonded this week.
After breakfast we all went swimming in the pool at our complex. It was right across a little bridge right behind our condo.
Back to the condo to hang out and have lunch.
Jenga was played often all week on a very wobbly (and ugly) coffee table, which just made it more interesting.
More often than not Cody was the Jenga Godzilla.
After lunch Grandma took all the boys for a walk/bicycle ride. We rented bikes for the whole week.
I think she took the boys to the big horse farm just up the road from our condo. She probably has some photos of that on her phone. I was having trouble trying to get the photos off of her phone onto my computer. Here’s a good shot of the front of our condo. You can see that it was on a canal with a big lagoon right in our back yard.
So many tender Grandma moments all week. That is a Goldilocks book that she is reading that was well-read to Janet and me when we were little. It is held together with tape and is well-crayoned inside.
Janet and I went on a bike ride in the afternoon.
First we headed down the bike trail to Harbor Town.
Then we returned and went the other direction up to the nature preserve (right next to the condo that we had stayed in the previous three years that we vacationed here…we missed being right next to the preserve where we would often go for hikes and bike rides, but overall our new location and condo were much nicer).
It was so hot that Janet was glowing!
Passing by Lawton Stables on the way back…
The beautiful low country marshes in “our” neighborhood…
In all we biked about 6 miles and agreed that it was much nicer than running 3 earlier.
We came home to an early taco dinner prepared by Chad and Grandma Viv. Then we headed back to the pool, of course.
The water was extremely warm at the end of the day…like a hot tub.
So today was run, swim, bike, swim…zonk.
With family, family, family all day long.
We were enjoying every minute of it.
