Last night I rode my bike over to my friend Barb’s house. I threw caution to the wind and didn’t wear a helmet…it’s only about a mile to her house from mine with no heavily trafficked roads. Don’t tell my kids.
Barb invited me over to watch True Blood with our friends Nicole and Paula.
Chad had to work from home last night, so it worked out nicely for me.
This is Nicole and me…
and this is Paula…
and this is Barb and me…
well, at least it’s our feet.
Thanks for the invitation Barb! I had a blast. Just one more episode of True Blood left this season. Sad face. But soon Dexter will be starting! Happy face.
This morning, true to my word, I got up early to run. It was miserably hot and humid even at 6:30 in the morning, but I was determined.
This is me at about the one-mile mark:
at around two miles…
and back home after three miles:
I did take a few walking breaks and overall was very slow. You can see the gaps where I walked on the map created by my Garmin…
Oh well. It’s a start. At least I did something. The stats are on my “Still Running” page.
I’m surprised that I wasn’t very sore this morning from Bodypump yesterday. The only place I felt sore before I ran was in my pecs (pects?). Now, though, I am feeling it in my quads. It feels good to know that I used my muscles.
Chad took the boys out to run some errands this morning and hit up some Labor Day sales. Now I’m just doing laundry, taking care of some odds and ends like making sure I don’t have any group buys expiring soon (man, it’s easy to forget to use those things), ordering school pictures in advance online, filling out yet more forms for school (I feel the need for a rant post about this) and trying to finish up going through stupid Hilton Head photos. Oh, and reading.
One of the main reasons I didn’t blog for a couple of weeks was that I was lost in the Seven Kingdoms.
We loved the HBO series based on the first book, so Chad ordered the box set. I have read all four of them in the last few weeks, and they are all pretty dense books. I was obsessed.
This is what always happens to me when I start reading. I can’t stop. Very little else gets done. Now I’m reading the fifth book that just recently came out.
It’s only available in hardback and this thing feels like a law school text book…1000 pages. I really wish I had a Kindle. Did you hear that Santa Claus? I would highly recommend these books if you have nothing else to do for a couple of weeks. And I hope George R. R. Martin doesn’t die before finishing the series, which is supposed to be a minimum of seven books. They are delicious.
Chad’s grilling out tonight for us. I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday!
I better get back to it…
