Showdown on the Playground
Quick and dirty post. Getting ready to head out for the kickball tournament after party.
This morning Mack and I made waffles…
and I’m showing off my new flowers…hydrangeas! They totally remind me of the huge pom-poms we used to put on our roller skates back in the day.
Went to the gym for an hour on the elliptical and Bodypump.
After the gym and a shower and lunch it was time for the Showdown on the Playground, a charity kickball tournament organized by the Junior League of St. Petersburg, of which several IRunMommies are members.
There is something wrong with the shutter on our Nikon D50 DSLR. I thought it was the flash, but no. Thus, the black part on the bottoms of the photos. Bummer. It is super old. Like 10 years old. I see a new DSLR in my near future.

It was a gorgeous day and we had the best spectators ever.
In the dugout…
We performed our team chant right before the game started…
“I’m gonna knock you out!”
“Mama’s gonna knock you out!”
“IRunMommies…”
“have the strength…”
“to kick the ball HARD!”
Stank face.
We were having a blast. Then the game started.
Kathy was our awesome pitcher.
Unfortunately, at first base, Dawn and I looked like Laurel and Hardy.
“I’m going to catch it!” Um, no.
I LOVE Dawn’s expression here. Crap, we blew it at first base again.
Well, the game was over in two innings. We lost. Womp womp. That ball was so super bouncy and light…like a balloon.
Oh well. Seriously, we were the cutest looking team there, and that’s what really counts. I’m almost sure we won the spirit award. We’re getting ready to go to the after party now and I’ll let you know.
Thanks to Megan for being our team Captain, to Kathy for pitching and to Nikki, who was definitely our MVP and caught two fly balls for outs. Awesome. I never even got up to kick, but I’ve got some awesome knee socks to wear forever now.
