Closer I am to fine Wednesday

I could not think up a title for this post so I went with a song lyric. That Indigo Girls song has been stuck in my head since I heard it on an old episode of Happy Endings last night.

Last night we went to Luke’s Coney Island hot dogs at Mack’s request for his birthday dinner. Since it was on the way home from Chad’s office, he met us there.

Originally Mack wanted pizza for his birthday dinner, but when I told him that meant we couldn’t have pizza Thursday night, he went with his second choice…hot dogs.

We have been to Luke’s several times and it is always a crowd pleaser.

I got a slaw dog because it is pretty much the only option that involves any veggies. I also got baked beans on the side, which I shared with Chad and Cal. The beans are really really good…definitely tons of brown sugar in there.

Chad got annoyed with me for Yelping and Instagramming during dinner. It was only a problem because the internet connection was awful in there. Still, bad blogger husband. I must have my social media. But I do realize that it is annoying. Sorry honey.

One of the employees offered to take a family photo for us without me even asking!

Since Mack had his birthday cake for his sleepover party last Friday, we went to Yogurtology for birthday dessert.

Bottomings first…

then yogurt, then toppings.

The plain one belongs to Chad. He doesn’t like chunky stuff in his ice cream. I tried to be “good” and just had a very small portion of the “no sugar added” cheesecake flavor, one tablespoon of caramel turtles, and strawberries. The “no sugar added” cheesecake was awesome…it didn’t taste diety at all. Mack got the go-ahead to load his up with M&M’s (his favorite candy), and he was in heaven.

Chad also got annoyed with my picture-taking, so I promised this would be the last one:

When we got home Mack got to open the rest of his presents from our extended family.

He got a bunch of books…

Legos…

and a bunch of other awesome stuff including sea monkeys! Cal got a few things too, including this Minecraft pick axe.

Yes, it’s pixelated. There is nothing wrong with your computer. He was stoked.

Mack was very happy with his birthday day, and even though the streamers and “Happy Birthday” sign are still up in our dining room, I think we can finally stop celebrating Mack’s birthday now. Who knows when I’ll get around to taking the decorations down.

After all the presents were opened I headed downtown for Restore the Core. There was a gorgeous sunset last night.

After all the rain we have had the last couple of days there was almost a cool-ish breeze starting to happen after the sun set. Almost.

Christie put us through her usual tortures.

Next week is the last Restore class of the session. I’m not sure my core will be fully restored by then. I may have to talk her into starting another session.

This morning we walked to school, I ate breakfast, then I headed to the gym for spin class. I met up with my friend Britt again. She was also at Restore last night.

We rock Britt! Thanks for putting up with my sweat slinging on you once again.

After spin I changed into a dry shirt, half-way dried my hair for two minutes under one of the blowers in the gym’s locker room, then headed to BodyPump.

Once again, I had very little steam left in my legs for squats and lunges but I did the best I could. I thought about going to the bathroom and hiding in the locker room for the entire lunge track, but I didn’t do it. I stayed in class and did what I could. Spin + Pump = total energy reserve depletion, even after a good breakfast. I couldn’t get home and shower and eat lunch fast enough.

After that it was time to pick up Cal from school. Mack had a little “teacher moment” activity after school. Some of the teachers raffled off “teacher moments” at the school’s spring carnival and one of Mack’s friends won one and invited him to be his +1. They ate pizza (I just packed him fruit and yogurt for lunch to tide him over) and had water balloon fights and games. I picked him up about 45 minutes later and he was soaking wet and happy.

Now we’re just hanging out but in a little while we going to a meet and greet for one of my friends who is running for county judge. More on that tomorrow, along with something fun and fascinating that I am doing in Tampa tomorrow morning! No more Thursday volunteering at school. For all intents and purposes school is DONE for the year. Just six more days of classes.
