Fitbloggin’ Day 1
Normally I edit my photos slightly before putting them on the blog. I usually crop them a little, maybe lighten them up a little…just quick and easy edits to make them slightly better. But it still takes time, and I don’t have much right now. My BFF Maggie is trying to get a little work done (actual work work) and we’re going to skip the afternoon sessions and go walk around the inner harbor area of Baltimore. But while she’s finishing up working I’m going to try to throw up a quick blog post of all my photos from yesterday, completely unedited. Well, two of them I edited quickly yesterday to post on Instagram, cropping them into squares, but otherwise, these are unedited photos. Whatever. Just had to say that in case you thought that I thought that these photos looked good.
Anyway, here’s what happened yesterday at Fitbloggin’:
I had a nice, uneventful flight from Tampa to Baltimore. I had to sit in the very last row on the airplane in the corner with zero leg room, but the lady sitting next to me was very nice. She asked me if I was a runner. I said, “Oh, did you notice my necklace?” I was wearing one of my “running” necklaces. She said, “No, I noticed your legs.”

Awesome.
As I was waiting in the Baltimore airport for the Super Shuttle van to the hotel, I thought I recognized Tina Haupert from Carrots ‘n’ Cake. Yep, that was her. We rode to the hotel together.

Total idiot blog stalker fan girl. What are you going to do?
The Hyatt Regency has a fabulous view of the inner harbor in Baltimore.

The view from our hotel room:

Our actual hotel room:

My roommate and BVFF (Best Virtual Friend Forever) was arriving about an hour later than me, so I wandered around the conference registration area waiting for her.

I picked up my swag bag, which was packed full of fun healthy stuff.

The view from the hotel elevator:

Sponsors set up in the registration area:

Roni Noone, the conference organizer, doing ten things at once…

The welcome mixer food:

Conference badge decorating station:

Maggie arrived and I gave her my special gift:

Love her so much. We decorated our badges, because we are 8 years old inside:

The next pictures I have are us heading to the hotel bar…big surprise.

She got some sensible vodka soda and I got some obscene sugar-laden drink:

We took our special drinks back down to the welcome mixer:

I love her. She is so beautiful.

We met Mark from the Biggest Loser.

Second round of drinks. Margarita for me apparently. I think I had a shot of Patrón also. I can’t remember.

Some sort of welcoming speech by Roni. Love her too.

One woman show presentation by Susan Ito. It included a bunch of stuff about pre-diabetes and actual diabetes.

How beautiful is Maggie?

Baltimore by night from the hotel elevator.

We got in a cab to head to dinner. We shared the cab with a bunch of PR young ladies with the “Refuel with Chocolate Milk” campaign.

They were cool. We didn’t eat dinner with them. We went to Brewer’s Art, which Maggie found on Yelp.

It was really really dark in there. And loud.

Drinks. Again.

Flash photography.

Dinner. Burgers. Good. Dark in there. The rosemary fries were amazing.

Outside afterwards.

We took a cab to Brewer’s Art, but decided to walk off our drunkenness back to the hotel, a little over a mile. We passed some interesting urban sights, like a swanky gym.

A big statue of George Washington (this is actually disputed; Maggie says it was NOT George Washington, but it was).

A horses scrotum:

Downtown Baltimore:

That’s all I got. First day, done. Having so much fun.
Cya.

We lived in Maryland when I was younger and Baltimore / Harborplace was always a favorite of ours, especially my dad. So pretty there. And amazing crab cakes. Oh my goodness. Looks like your first day was fun!
Have you run into Omar yet?
I was keeping my eyes peeled for McNolte. Definitely saw some of the supporting characters during the 5K

Fantastic pictures of FitBloggin and the city of Baltimore!
It was fantastic to meet you from the first moment in the elevator. You and Maggie were always having a blast.
That flash photo of you is beautiful.
So glad we got to say hi! It was such an amazing weekend. Love your sense of humor in this post… so great that you got to meet your BVFF!
Hope to see you next year!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the photos. I was wonderful to meet you and your BVFF!
Nice pictures and you were practically live blogging, awesome! You were way more on top of the photos & blogging than I was and I made it into one pic way in the back, well my right leg did
I can’t wait to check out the other days posts now.
Your camera takes some great night time pictures. That was a very nice swag bag you got and all the little stuff inside.
Hi Caroline,
I was reading some of you entries and I saw that you did NutriSystem. Could you tell me what to expect if I join? And how did you decide on NutriSystem rather than Weight Watchers?
It’s been several years, so I may be forgetting some of the details, but Nutrisystem was great for me. The best thing about it is the convenience. You get all your meals for one month, and you add fresh fruit and vegetables and lean protein and dairy. They have a huge variety of meals (although they are always changing them, so what they have now probably is a little different than what they had when I did it), and I liked the food. It definitely grows on you. I was very involved on the Nutrisystem website in the forums, and I think that was great. They have tons of information and support in there. On Nutrisystem you don’t have to count anything, like on Weight Watchers. No tracking. Best of luck to you!
looks like a really fun time
I grabbed a couple of your photos for a fitbloggin montage I’m putting together. FitBloggin is one of the sponsors for my Fitness Websites, Blogs, Networking and Inspiration online event next week http://fitwithflair031213.eventbrite.com/
No problem…just hope you give me photo credits somewhere (and a link would be nice).
