Yesterday after Mack’s karate class we hurried to Cal’s school for a PTSA meeting and fish fry dinner.

It started at 5:30, but karate didn’t end until 5:15 and we arrived a little late.

Chad met us there. The principal spoke about all of the different clubs available at the school.

After the brief meeting, we got in line for fish. Luckily most of those people in the photo above did not stay for the dinner, so the line was actually pretty short.

We sat with our friends, the G’s.

Sorry about that picture Tanya. I should have taken more than one. Here are some other pictures of Tanya, so you can see her pretty eyes.

Except for the cole slaw, the dinner was really good. There are fries under the fish.

After dinner we went to check out some of the displays for the clubs. The boys got to try net casting at the fishing club exhibit.

Cal was excited about showing us the Robotics Club which he has been participating in, but it turns out they didn’t have a display set up for that one.

There was a big storm while we were at the meeting, and when we left it was still raining a little, but the sun was also shining. There was a huge full-bow rainbow to the east.

There was even a faint double bow.

20121004-DSC01148

I think this was the most perfect, brilliant rainbow I have ever seen. The photos don’t do it justice at all.

Chad left from the school to go to pool league and the boys and I headed home. When we got there, a special delivery was waiting for us.

I doubt that two children have ever been more excited about receiving a big box of yogurt.

Thank you Chobani! They even sent a few extra goodies for the boys.

Inevitably, this happened:

Cal had a cold butt in there. Anybody local want some reusable, slightly sat upon, ice packs?

We have very limited freezer space.

Also inevitably, this happened:

Thanks for the markers, Chobani.

This morning I meant to get up early enough to walk Mack to school, but then I didn’t. I stayed up way too late last night for no reason whatsoever. Among other time-killers, I spent time scrolling through this…

If you didn’t get a good enough sense about what Fitbloggin’ was all about with my exhaustive four posts about it, just scroll through that feed. Good times.

To make up for not walking this morning, after both boys got off to school, I biked to the pool (four miles).

It was a gorgeous morning.

20121005-IMG_8250

All that rain yesterday brought slightly cooler air this morning. The first mile of my bike ride felt great.

After that it was hot again.

There were tons of people out on North Shore enjoying the morning being active.

I racked Snowflake by the pool…

and met up with two of my IRunMommies friends (Kelly and Michelle) to swim some laps.

Thanks for the suggestion to swim today Kelly! Even though swimming is kind of a solitary sport, it was fun to have friends to talk to when we rested on the sides occasionally.

I did my usual 2500 yards (6X400 IM + 1X100 IM), then hung out on the pool deck for a little while to dry off before biking home.

I felt very energy depleted on the four miles home, so once there I made lunch immediately. This is leftover chicken paprika that had been in my freezer since May. I heated it up then dumped it on top of some chopped, fresh spinach. It looks gross, but was really good.

I didn’t have long to hang out at home before I had to go pick up Mack. I had to get to school a little early so that we could bring home our houseguest for the weekend.

Small-Fry, the albino gerbil.

His accoutrement:

Mack has been talking about this all week.

Let’s hope Chewie doesn’t eat him.

Now it’s almost time to go pick up Cal. Lots of fun stuff planned for the weekend.

Cya!
