Chevy Fit4Life, Smart Balance, Karna Fitness, who else can I shill for?
Let’s start with Chevy and GM in the Southeast. If you are pregnant, or know some one who is, please check out this fun and FREE event coming up this Sunday.

They are still looking for participants, so RSVP as indicated above by Friday. I’ll be there, possibly participating (although I am definitely not pregnant), possibly just hanging out and eating whatever free food is offered. The last Chevy Fit4Life Tour that I participated in was a blast. My friend Christie, of Karna Fitness and Baby Boot Camp, helped to organize this event and she will be leading the fitness class. Every mom who participates will receive a gift bag full of goodies for mom and baby, plus ONE lucky participant will walk away with a brand new Graco SnuggleRide Click Connect Car Seat at the end of the day. Let me know if you are going!
So on to Smart Balance. Yesterday I was EPIC as I shopped at Publix and Target. You can tell that I finally unpacked from Fitbloggin’, as these are all shopping bags that we got there (Maggie left hers behind, so I took them too).

I picked up the ingredients to make one of the recipes out of the 14-day meal plan that Smart Balance sent me. Chad was picking the boys up from karate, so after I dropped them off I went home and got started on it.

I was making Quick Skillet Pasta, and the recipe is also available on their website (click here). I often see “Meatless Monday” posts on blogs that I read, but I’ve never gotten on that bandwagon. I realized as I was making this that it was Monday and this recipe is meatless, so happy “Meatless Monday” to me. The protein in the dish is beans.

I substituted plain crushed tomatoes for the pasta sauce that the recipe called for, because crushed tomatoes were BOGO last week and I had an extra can. I just added a little extra garlic, herbs, and salt to make up the difference.

This was a very simple recipe and the boys liked it.

(Disclosure: Smart Balance also sent me a coupon for one free Smart Balance product. I will write a blurb on my blog for a brand that I use anyway if they send me a free coupon. Did you hear that PR people? I often write blurbs for brands that I use even when they don’t send me a free coupon or know that I exist, so why not?)
After dinner I headed over to Bruner’s Fitness Studio (aka Christie’s house) for a Karna Fitness Restore the Core class.

Although we did have a couple of relatively cool and non-humid days over the weekend, the heat and humidity returned this week so it was hot last night on Christie’s pool deck.

We table-topped, leg-dropped, bridged, V-sat, and planked as the sun set.

Thanks for the great workout Christie!

I came in second-runner-up in a plank-off. I think I held an elbow/toes plank for about a minute and forty seconds or something close to that.

The winner was the national marketing director for Karna Fitness, so Christie let me have the prize. She gave me one of these awesome Karna Fitness tumblers.

I had to put a paper towel in it so that my camera would focus on the logo.

I’m hoping I can make it to more Karna classes in the future.
Chad and I watched Dexter after I got home then hit the hay. I’m not sure what I think about this season of Dexter yet. There are definitely some interesting developments making this season completely different than all the preceding ones.
This morning Chewie and I walked Mack to school. It was really foggy at Foggy Bottom (aka Denver Park), but it was so dark out that I couldn’t really get a good picture.

Once home I got Cal off to the bus stop and made my breakfast.

I decided not to bust my ass trying to squeeze in a bike ride this morning (because I may or may not be feeling something coming on that I don’t want to mention and therefore give it power…and also whatever Christie did to me has left me very sore) so I did laundry and finally cleaned off my desk.

After:

Then I took a shower and got ready to volunteer at school. I met Mack for lunch in Mrs. P’s and Mrs. K’s office.

After he finished eating we hung out in the courtyard until his class came out of the cafeteria.

Mack wanted to show me how high he could jump.

He did pull-ups on the wall and I told him that now he was just showing off.

He said, “Mom, I’m really gaining upper body strength at karate.” Wish I could do a pull-up.
When his class came out we walked with them to his classroom and I helped some kids with math.

I love third grade math. So much better than fifth grade math.
Outfit of the volunteering day (OOTVD):

One little boy in Mack’s class told me that my shirt was awesome.

After volunteering I took my awesome shirt to Target. Yes, I went to Target two days in a row, and now I’m shilling for Target and they didn’t even give me a free coupon. I did have a $1.00 off Pantene products coupon, so there is that.

After Target I went home and inhaled lunch because it was 1:30 and I was starving. I didn’t take a picture but it was leftover Quick Skillet Pasta from last night. Then I went to pick up Mack from school. I left Chewie in the back yard since I would only be gone a few minutes.

“Hey Mom! You forgot me!”

Once home Mack worked on his homework and I made him a snack.

“I can haz pear core?”

The afternoon has been spent writing this blog post and thinking about what to make for dinner. I’m thinking some chicken skewers that are in the freezer and broccoli. Since I didn’t exercise today, other than walking Mack to school, I’m thinking I may go on the family evening walk. It’s been a while.
Cya.

I’m always hungry after I read your blog. That’s got to say something about your cooking skills, don’t you think?! oxoxo
More great food, more great photos of your boys and love how you turned that mess into neatness………..
Dang! Can’t do that Chevy event
I love Dexter. that is all.
I’m obsessed with those tumblers. I keep them everywhere!
Your sons are so handsome. They are going to be heartbreakers when they grow up
The food looks lovely. I am loving peaches right now and will be sad when they are no longer yummy and inexpensive.
Great action shot
Thank you Grace! I’m sad that cantaloupe is no longer good
Dang, with your luck, you’ll win the car seat!
Let us know if you do, I’d buy it off of you!
Haha. If I do participate I’m not going to be in the running for the prize. I feel funny about even participating but the PR people want me to if they don’t end up with enough people. I wish you were here and could do it! It’s going to be a fun day, I think.
nice use of Yiddish! I totally approve!
Haha. I actually looked it up to see if it was schill or shill
Mack gets better looking by the day. You look great too in that t-shirt with the pumpkins. Hope you’re feeling better (from next blog). Mom
