A little while ago the nice people at GM in the Southeast asked if I would help to promote their latest grassroots marketing event, Chevy Fit4Life Tour – Moms2Be Edition.

I had tons of fun when I participated in the Chevy Fit4Life Tour and also in the Chevy Go For The Gold Challenge, so I was glad to help out in promoting the event. They also asked me if I would like to attend the event to help with social media coverage, and while I felt a little strange doing so since I’m not expecting, I knew it would be a fun event and I hate missing out on fun. So I happily agreed.

My friend Christie of Baby Boot Camp and Karna Fitness also helped to organize the event and was leading part of the workout. She and I arrived at Maher Chevrolet yesterday morning right at the same time.

Soon a bunch of super cute pregnant ladies arrived and we gathered in the dealership’s showroom.

All of the ladies received an event t-shirt…

and a goodie bag full of fun items for mother and baby.

Noelle and Nicole, the PR professionals in charge of the event…

were nice enough to give me a goodie bag that I am going to pass on to a special friend of mine who is expecting but who was not able to attend the event yesterday.

GM had a beautiful brunch laid out for all of us to enjoy during the first presentation.

I had a reusable coffee mug in hand when I arrived and I refilled it with some of this mocha iced coffee:

Wow, that stuff is good.

The Fit4Life Tour included a social media challenge for the ladies…

and the winner was going to get this fancy car seat as a prize, thanks to Graco :

The event began with an informative presentation by Jean Shoemaker from SafeKidsUSA, a community outreach program of All Children’s Hospital. She spoke about traveling safely with your baby.

Jean suggested putting your cell phone in the back seat of your car. This tip was for EVERYONE, not just for moms-to-be! When that phone chimes it can be awfully tempting while driving. For parents of babies, it is also a reminder that there is a baby back there. I’m sure most of us have heard the extremely sad horror stories about parents who have somehow forgotten that there was a sleeping baby in a rear-facing car seat in their car.

Jean also gave a hands-on car seat safety demonstration.

After the SafeKids demonstration it was time to load up in our beautiful Chevy vehicles and head to the next stop. This was my ride for the day…a Chevy Tahoe 2LT.

It was so roomy and luxurious and CLEAN as compared to my old Mazda micro-minivan.

Our first stop was Vinoy Park on the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront for the fitness portion of the event. First up was my friend Christie Bruner with a Baby Bootcamp workout.

Christie has her own little fitness empire and she’s also the Health and Wellness Chairperson for the PTA at my kids’ school. Yeah, she’s awesome.

The ladies took advantage of the whole park with a warm-up, light jog/walk, and a variety of resistance and bodyweight exercises.

Another friend of mine, Katie, who is also a Baby Boot Camp instructor:

It was super windy by the water, but the sun was shining and the temperatures were perfect.

The day could not have been more beautiful for a workout in the park.

I was mostly taking pictures and sharing them on social media, but I had to get in on a little of the exercise action.

Next up was a cool-down and relaxation session led by Camille Raciopio of Pilates Powerhouse.

Despite a visit from one inquisitive little pug dog, everyone got a great stretch and some quiet meditation.

I loved hanging out with all these young women who are at such an exciting stage in their life. It made me nostalgic for my own expecting days gone by.

After the workouts we all loaded back up into our fleet of Chevys…

and let the OnStar navigation system lead us to our next destination.

As a “media” representative (hahaha) I enjoyed taking a back seat and letting the moms-to-be take turns driving. Each vehicle also had a GM representative riding along, and I enjoyed getting to know Camilo (from Columbia and more recently Miami) as we tooled around St. Pete.

He answered all of our questions about the vehicle and stayed with the car while we were doing other things. We asked if he came with a vehicle purchase, but he said that he would be an extra add-on for an additional cost.

Our next destination was Earth Origins for lunch.

I love this little organic/natural foods grocery store which includes a café. It used to be called Nature’s Finest and I have been there many times, but it’s on the other side of town from my neighborhood so I don’t get in there often enough.

We were each given gift cards to purchase lunch and snacks. They have an awesome soup and salad bar, as well as all kinds of wraps and sandwiches.

Of course I used part of my gift card to buy chocolate.

While we ate lunch Christy Waterhouse, Thee Baby Lady, spoke to the mamas about all things pre-, during, and post-birth. They had lots of great questions for her and it was a fun discussion.

After lunch Christie helped Noelle record a short interview video. She’s such a pro!

I remember that after the Chevy Go for the Gold Event they recorded me giving a short interview and I was so awkward and tongue-tied. I don’t think that my interview ever made the light of day.

After lunch we headed back to Maher Chevrolet where I won a car!

Just kidding. But my new friend and car-mate Massiel did win the car seat!
