Saturday morning, before we went to Hunsader Farms, I actually went to the gym! The YMCA, to be exact.

My friend Tori is a BodyCombat instructor there, and she posted on Facebook that they were doing a new launch and the class on Saturday morning was free. I have been meaning to check out the YMCA now that we live 10 minutes closer to it. I took Tori’s Facebook post as a sign that I needed to go.

When I got there a BodyPump class was going on. It made me miss it.

I love how much space there is at the Y. They were able to leave the BodyPump class set up on one side of the gym and have our Combat class on the other.

Of course it was a lot of fun and in the end I decided to just go ahead and sign up for a membership (the registration fee was being waived through the 15th…so I saved $79).

They have my beloved Les Mills classes, tons of my friends work out there, it’s only 10 minutes from my house, and the facilities are awesome. Indoor swimming! Also, it’s $10 cheaper a month than Gold’s. So goodbye Gold’s, hello YMCA.

I let the boys have maple syrup with theirs and they really liked them. I just had fruit with mine and I thought they were very good. I’m insidiously moving the boys towards a less grain-centered lifestyle without them even knowing it. Lately I’ve been giving them nuts instead of pretzels or crackers in their lunch. They love nuts, so they are still happy and don’t even realize what I’ve done.

It wasn’t elicit, but was part of a veggie co-op fundraiser that she is organizing for the month of October. I decided to suspend my regular Annie’s Organics co-op for a few weeks so that I could participate in Steph’s fundraiser. I got all of this for $25:

First, I went by Gold’s gym to cancel my membership there. Luckily, that didn’t take long but unluckily my cancellation won’t be effective for 60 days. Bleh.

Next I ran by VisionWorks to get Cal’s glasses repaired.

The afternoon was spent running the boys hither and yon. Chad was off work today for Columbus Day (why is this still a holiday?), so he made dinner. Well, I roasted some veggies earlier in the day (amidst running around):

So he sort of made dinner. He also grilled some corn for him and the boys. I made garlicky green beans also (okay, so I made 80% of dinner, but it was nice to have him man the grill).

Revolutionary Hoop Dance DVD Premiers October 20

I have only been blogging special events here this past week it seems. I’m VERY distracted by our new house hunt right now. I’ve looked at a bunch of houses this past week with our realtor. There have been several flurries of, “OMG Chad, you have to come see this house today!” I am vetting all of the potential houses first since Chad’s available time is so limited. But there is very little inventory in St. Petersburg right now and anything good is GONE very quickly, so you have to move fast. We’ve lost the opportunity to even make an offer on several houses because they went under contract before Chad could even see them. So anyway, I’m highly distracted and just not finding the time or inclination to blog about my usual mundane fascinating life.

I have a backlog of things I want and need to blog about, and I may be putting up some very short, public service announcement-type blog posts in the near future just to keep from getting so far behind. I mean, the main purpose of this blog is just to record the memories of our daily life before they slip away never to return. But the “new house hunt” distractions are not going to stop anytime soon so blogging is not going to be a huge priority.

With that said, here’s a run-down of the sweating that I did this past week with a few miscellaneous photos thrown in there for good measure.

Wednesday I went to a Yoga Sculpt class at Yoga Blu. This is a 90 minute class incorporating weights with traditional yoga poses. I’m starting to think all of the yoga classes at Yoga Blu are “hot” yoga. Both of the classes I went to this week seemed to be lacking any air conditioning. I was a dripping sweaty mess by the end.

I ended up not actually doing the Honda Grand Prix 5K in the end. I piled on a bunch of excuses: my friend who I was going to do it with got sick and I couldn’t verify that any of my other friends were going to be there; it was raining; my hip has been hurting all week since the Sarasota Half Marathon. The truth is that I got lazy and let those excuses sway me.

Saturday morning I went to a fundraising event at Above the Barre Fitness. My friend Maria, the owner, donated her time and studio for this class which helped to raise funds for a high school Relay for Life team benefitting the American Cancer Society.

This morning the boys and I loaded the bikes into the back of the micro mini-van and headed to Outspokin Bicycles in south Tampa.
