No school Friday

Last night I treated myself to a few squares of chocolate.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-1

It was awesome.

This morning’s breakfast was a quickie:

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-2

It was spinach and onions sautéed in bacon grease and then scrambled with two eggs, plus a little piece of sweet potato with butter.

The kids were off school today for some reason. Cal had his annual check-up.

It was the first day I wore jeans this fall.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-4

I was really happy because my jeans from last winter were loose this morning!

After Cal’s doctor appointment we drove out to Graham’s Produce to buy some pumpkins.

I also bought some corn stalks because I can’t stop adding things to the front porch.

Grandma Viv sent the boys cookies!

She sent nothing for Chewie.

After dropping the pumpkins and corn stalks off at the house we went to lunch at Evos.

I got a steak burger (they use good quality beef at Evos, love it) without the bun.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-18

It was excellent.

By lunch time it had warmed up and I lost the jeans.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-16

After lunch we headed to Cal’s school for a meeting.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-19

It’s great to go to school when there is no school in session.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-20

Apparently Cal is going to be taking the SAT in January as a 7th grader.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-21

I also took the SAT in 7th grade. Ah, memories. Cal will probably be lobbying to leave for college after this.

Tonight we’re going to the fall festival at Mack’s school. Somehow we are going to both boys’ schools today even though they were off school. Fabulous.

St. Raphael Festival 2013

October 20, 2013 at 4:44 pm

Last night we all headed to Snell Isle for the annual St. Raphael Festival.

St Raphs Fest

We have attended this festival for several years and always have a great time. Click here to see our St. Raphael Festival adventures last year. Click here to see our St. Raphael Festival adventures from 2011. St. Raph’s is in our old neighborhood and we always see so many of our friends there. Last night was no exception. I think we knew about 100 people there. It was great.

I took a photo of all of the boys under the sign at the entrance and then realized that I had no memory card in my camera. Doh. So all of the photos in this post were taken with my cell phone and many of them are really bad. Oh well.

First stop…the beer truck (not for me).

The area with the little kids’ rides used to be popular for our kids, but now they weren’t interested in these things…

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-2

We headed straight for the midway.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-3

First up was the scrambler.

Then Mack and his buddy Joey rode The Spider and Cal and his buddies disappeared into the carnival.

Mack and Joey hit up The Hurricane next.

We found Cal and his friends eventually.

They were off to 1001 Nachts.

This festival is on the grounds of a Catholic church and is in a small neighborhood, so it is not huge and feels pretty safe. We just let the boys run free with their friends. At some point we found Mack and Joey at the bumper cars.

We all met up to ride the Ferris Wheel together.

It’s my favorite.

This pains my grain/sugar loathing heart, but Chad got them all a funnel cake to split.

It was 90 degrees out there even after dark and we were all dripping sweat all night but it was still super fun. We got to catch up with some out of town friends as well as a dozen or so of Chad’s college friends who are local. We saw tons of our Shore Acres friends and got to spend some time in our old neighborhood. We’ll be back next year!
