I need to get the Grandmas caught up with the boys 🙂 On Friday I went on a fieldtrip with Mack’s first grade class to see Jack Hartmann, who is like this preschool superstar.
We saw him perform at Mack’s preschool a couple of times, so Mack was very familiar with his songs. There were about four elementary schools there and these kids were pumped up! They had made signs to hold up that said “Tootie Ta!”, which is one of Jack’s most popular songs, and a song that Mack performed with his class one year in preschool at their Spring Fling. In fact, two of his preschool classmates are in his class this year…
This is Katie and Megan. I love how they are all holding hands! Mack’s shirt is a little stretched out at the neck because of this:
Yeah. Maybe no more tattoos on the chest. Mack was super excited while we waited to go in to the show. He was dancing in line.
And Jack didn’t disappoint. It was basically an hour of this:
And thus I had my basic fieldtrip accessories:
Never go on a fieldtrip without my earplugs! All the other moms were jealous. But Mack had fun, so I was happy to be there.
Notice I have on not a stitch of make-up, and truth be told I hadn’t even showered . I ran home after the fieldtrip to get a 3.5 mi. run in before it was time for carpool. It was the only chance I had because Chad and I had a date night planned!
We went to a my BFF Caroline‘s house for a happy hour in honor of her husband’s birthday, and we got a babysitter! This is a big deal for us, because we generally only get a babysitter a couple of times a year. The boys are thrilled to have a babysitter because it means an evening when they are not under our heavy thumbs. We had a nice time hanging out with our friends without having to reprimand someone every five minutes. I did pretty good with sticking to my plan with the holiday eating and only drank water!
Saturday I went to yoga while Chad took the boy’s to the Saturday Morning Market to pick up our CSA share. Here’s what we got this time:
This is: Green onion, Lacinato Kale, Arugula, Red-leaf Lettuce, Mustard Greens, Radishes, Escarole, Green Peppers, Cucumber, Zuchini, Eggplant, Green Beans. If you think that eggplant looks a little funny, check out my gratitude blog 🙂 I’m on the hunt for more recipes for greens. I’m going to make kale chips out of the kale, and the escarole and arugula are going to go in my salads. Any great ideas for mustard greens? They have such a specific flavor.
Saturday afternoon we went to Philippe Park in Safety Harbor to have some family portraits made. My friend Cari was the photographer. She is awesome. I’m hoping we got some good shots (fingers crossed for a Xmas card photo). After the photo shoot and dinner we went to Target and bought our Christmas tree (artificial…last year we trashed our old one). So we’ll be putting that up this week.
This morning the boys and I went to the gym and since then it’s been laundry all day. Chad’s making something yummy in the crockpot for dinner (smells asian) and right now he is out at Target doing pretty much all of the Christmas shopping. I guess I’ll keep him. It feels like it’s been a full and fun weekend. The boys are out of school all this week, so I’m sure we’ll be up to something.
