Whoa, it’s May

May 6, 2013 at 2:45 pm

Last time I blogged it was mid-April. How did that happen? I mean, not much has been going on around here. Here’s the stuff that I took pictures of over the last few weeks:

On Friday, April 27th Chad and I went to the mega annual Yelper Party, this year called the Yelptucky Derby.

Open to all Yelpers who RSVP’d, we were wined and dined by some of Yelp Tampa Bay’s favorite vendors all night. For the first time in 17 years we are not having a Kentucky Derby Party, so this was our substitute.

The next day, on Saturday, April 27th the boys and I did the Meek & Mighty Triathlon:

Then the day after that, Sunday, April 28th I participated in the St. Anthony’s Triathlon with my relay team, 3 Moms Who Tri.

I did the swim leg (duh), my friend Nikki was our cyclist, and my friend Beth was our runner.

My friend Christie was also the swimmer on a relay team, so we hung out together before the start.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-2

My relay team ended up getting 10th place out of 21 all-female relay teams, so I was pretty proud of us!

Even though I was exhausted after two very early race mornings, my friend Ali convinced me to go out with her Sunday afternoon to the Local Top Chef competition being put on by Local Shops 1.

Ali is on the board for Local Shops 1, so we had some sweet VIP passes and got to try everything and vote in the People’s Choice competition.

Thanks for the invitation Ali!

The food was great, but we decided to stop by Red Mesa Cantina afterwards for a real drink (hello tequila…beer and wine just are not you).

Two days later, Chad and I closed on our new house!

We are in love with this house, largely because of that awesome pool! We had a few friends over Tuesday afternoon to help us celebrate in the empty house…it was a “bring your own chair” party.

Sweet.

On Wednesday my amazing friend, the other Caroline, helped me clean the new house. Thank you so much CC for the best housewarming gift ever!

We introduced Chewie to the new house…

He is thrilled with so many new smells.

Pool + pool table = amazing.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-18

Oh, did you notice…Cal got a haircut!

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-56

Excellent.

We spent all day Thursday getting the cable/internet installed, as well as having the boys’ beds and a new media cabinet delivered and installed.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-57

We also had the house sprayed for bugs (of which there were many) and had a yard maintenance guy take a look at some things we need to have done. It was kind of a crazy, awesome day of getting ready for the big move…which happened on Friday!

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-19

I am in total awe of movers. Four guys carried hundreds of boxes and huge furniture down our stairs all day long.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-25

It was crazy and exhausting, as I was packing and moving stuff all day long also. But after seeing how hard those guys work I would never complain. They did a great job and I’d definitely recommend Brothers EZ Moving. In fact, after all of this, I think I will start “Caroline’s List”, as I now have excellence referrals for realtors, handymen, electricians, painters, house cleaners, yard maintenance folks, pool service companies, gutter cleaners, and furniture/appliance stores. Need a recommendation? And thanks to all of my friends who gave ME recommendations.

Finally all of our stuff was moved into the new house, and amongst the new maze of boxes we had a little party…thanks for the cake Gramma!

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-31

Our celebration was pretty short-lived, as we still had all of this stuff at the old house…

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-20

Yard sale time on Saturday!

It was pretty good. We sold tons of stuff, including the boys old bunk beds, and made about $375 total. Everything left went to Good Will and the Salvation Army. Whew.

Sunday I had the old house professionally cleaned, and it is looking really good. It’s going to look fabulous in a few days as the inside is being painted and new carpet is going into the bedrooms. My realtor is having it photographed on Friday and it will be on the market on Saturday. Anybody looking for a sweet house in a great neighborhood and school district?

I have about a million and one photos of the new house…every room from every angle. There are a few sneak peeks in the photos above, but as I get stuff unpacked I’ll be sharing some more photos, I’m sure. I mean, we live here now! It’s bound to be on the blog. Here are a few more photos I took to send to our mothers for Mother’s Day…

Iron Girl Clearwater 5K 2013 and other stuff

April 20, 2013 at 10:46 am

I think I’m forgetting how to blog. But I don’t want to forget anything so here goes another tl/dr catch-up post, mostly pictures:

Last weekend I did the Iron Girl 5K. I say “did” because I mostly walked it. This was my fourth Iron Girl event, and every one has been so different. I think they are constantly trying to tweak the logistics in Clearwater to include the beach but facilitate parking. It was great this year…easy parking with the start and finish in Coachman Park. Doing the 5K was awesome (I’m over half-marathons). I saw so many friends and had a blast.

I am slacking so badly at blogging that I keep coming across photos that never saw the light of the internet…like these from the “Father’s Lunch” at Mack’s school Friday before last:

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-9

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-88

We walked to school a bunch last week…it’s going to be sad not to be able to walk to school after we move. Chewie will be the most sad, but I’ll just have to take him for other walks instead. I just love killing two birds with one stone (exercise and getting Mack to school).

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-89

The hamster and beagle t-shirts are now Mack’s favorites and he wears them as soon as they are clean again.

Monday I headed to North Shore pool and swam 1600 yards.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-32

Tuesday night I went to the last Restore the Core class of the session with Christie of Karna Fitness. None of the other ladies showed up (slackers) so I got to have a personal training session!

On Wednesday night I headed out to Pass-a-grille (St. Pete Beach) to do a one-mile open water swim with the Mad Dogs Triathlon Club. I met my friend Tori there and we had a good swim. It had been a while (November!) since I did an open water swim, so I was happy to be able to get one in before the St. Anthony’s Triathlon next weekend.

Thursday night I went to Ruth Eckerd Hall with a bunch of my IRunMommies friends (who are all Baby Boot Camp franchise owners or instructors…thanks for including me in the VIP group Christie!) to see Jillian Michaels “Maximize Your Life” tour. She was great. I love her so hard. She was so candid and genuine. We got to stay for the Q & A afterwards which was led by Janice, Jillian’s podcast producer. I LOVE Jillian’s podcasts and Janice, and they were just as hilarious on stage together as they are on the podcast.

Last night I went to a Yelp Elite event at FitLife Foods in Tampa. My friend Beth went with me, but since I have forgotten how to be a blogger I somehow didn’t get a photo of the two of us last night! But here we are at the Brookwood Carnival a while ago…she’s on the right. This was our relay team for the TriRock Clearwater Triathlon last fall (my friend Nikki is in the middle):

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-99

Thanks for being my date last night Beth!

It was a fun Yelp event. We got to go behind the scenes and sample lots of FitLife’s healthy fare. I have blogged about FitLife several times already (like here) and I love them.
