This morning I was up before the dawn to meet with my blogger friends Raffi and Jackie to drive to the Little Everglades Ranch in Dade City for the Dirty Girl Mud Run. We drove east as the sun was rising…
It was a beautiful morning with clear skies, but it was chilly and as we got close to the ranch there was thick fog.
We were directed to drive through the fields on the ranch and by the time we made it to the parking area the visibility was extremely low.
We met up with lots of other blogger friends (most of us were Dirty Girl Blogger Ambassadors) and started walking to the check-in area just as the sun was peeking over the horizon.
I nailed Jackie coming out of the port-o-potty:
(L to R: Me, Caitlyn, Genna, Jenny, Denise, Raffi, Jackie, Nicole)
The dew on the grass almost looked like frost, but it was actually in the mid-40’s and not really THAT cold.
But anything under 60° feels pretty cold to us Floridians.
First we had to check in and get our bibs, t-shirts, and necklaces.
My shirt got super wrinkled smashed in my bag with my damp towel, but I really like the design. I also think the necklace is a cute alternative to a medal. I love the logo.
Another “before” group shot of all the bloggers…
That one also includes Mary, Meghann, Jess, and Margarita who we caught up with at check-in.
I kept failing at getting a Dirty Blogger Bondi Band photo of Jess and me…
until somebody finally took pity on us and took one for us.
As we walked to the start the sun was finally starting to warm things up and burn off the fog. The sweet bikini ass below belongs to Jackie:
We did Zumba to warm up, although I don’t think we were doing it in this photo:
And then we were off! Raffi came along to be our official photographer and I had my waterproof camera in my sports bra or in my hand. I’ll probably do another post with some of Raffi’s photos (using Jenny’s waterproof camera) once she gets them up and if there are any that are not completely unflattering of me. I got tons of photos of Raffi taking photos!
The first obstacle:
The second obstacle was just a mud pit that you had to walk through. Our first bit of cold, wet mud.
Right after the mud pit we walked through water which cleaned things right up but was pretty dang cold.
Here is a little mushroom growing out of some horse dung:
Horse poop piles were everywhere and just presented additional obstacles.
Here’s Raffi standing next to the sign for the next obstacle:
This was a little daunting:
More obstacles, more mud, more laughter, more fun.
Coming down the other side of this one was much scarier than going up. It was pretty high.
The lighting in this picture makes it look like dry dirt, but it wasn’t. It was wet, black, mud.
Raffi again, still very clean:
Raffi wasn’t doing the obstacles. She was running ahead and taking short cuts so she could photograph everyone.
The Funky Monkey was hard.
Luckily my butt was bigger than the squares in the rope net.
The last big obstacle:
And yeah, we pretty much all had to do this:
Except Denise did this:
I love Dirty Jessica!
The last mud pit at the finish line:
It was a really fun morning with my fabulous friends.
After hosing off and changing clothes we got beers, looked around the Dirty Girl shop, and hung out for a little while.
It turned into a fabulously gorgeous day.
Raffi, Jackie, and I talked non-stop on the hour long drive back to St. Pete.
Thanks you guys for riding with me…it was so much fun, from beginning to end.
Thank you to the Dirty Girl Mud Run for comp’ing my entry. Everything was really well-run and we couldn’t have had a better day!
