Creative Olympians

I wasn’t able to walk to school this morning, as I had to drop Mack off then drive Cal to Perkins Elementary for the Creative Olympics. A group of eight kids represented the Shore Acres Gifted Center in a contest of creative challenges against other Pinellas County elementary gifted centers.

They didn’t place in the competition, but their teacher said they did well and had fun. Parents weren’t allowed to spectate, but I snapped these pictures before and after the competition. I know Cal had a good time with his cohorts.

After I dropped Cal at Perkins I did come home and take Chewie for a long walk. Since my knees are finally pain-free walking is a joy again. I whole-heartedly recommend getting the right kind of shoes for your feet if you are going to be running. It’s kind of unbelievable the difference it has made.

I am having more angst over the bathroom remodeling issue. We had pretty much decided to go with this one contractor, and now the guy won’t call me back. I feel like I am going to have to start over at square one and get a whole new batch of contractors out here to give me bids. Why does this have to be so hard? I thought people really needed work these days, but apparently not so much. I am really bummed about this.

Also bumming:  second Tuesday in a row that the recycling has not been picked up. It has NEVER been picked up. We got the bin Monday before last and the info sheet said our pick up day is on Tuesdays. So we filled it up and put it out the next day. No pick up. Okay, we just got the bin the day before, so maybe they weren’t planning to start picking up the next day. So this week, the thing is overflowing. As of 5:45 p.m., still not picked up. I guess I’ll have to call them.

Final bummer: the marquee in front of the boy’s school said 96° when I drove by it at 5:30 p.m. Bleh. Summer is back.
