Walk Pump Run Bake

Today was International Walk to School Day! And what a perfect morning it was to walk to school. It was about 65° and sunny. Mack wore a jacket AND gloves (required some digging in boxes under beds to locate the gloves from last season). Cal brought a jacket and his UK baseball cap, but decided he didn’t want the jacket. I definitely wanted my jacket, but I had on shorts and the boys wore jeans. Oh, yesterday was our first jeans day this year!

Anyway, you know how much I love walking to school. I have blogged about it here,  here,  and here. But today was so special. We met up with what had to be over a 100 parents and students at Denver Park, which is along our normal walk-t0-school route. Here is Mack with one of his best friends, Molly (the blur in the Planet Jump photo).

Everyone set off together to walk to school.

It just felt amazing to me. Everyone was smiling and walking. I really felt like the kids were loving it. How awesome would it be if we could do this every day?

Well “we” do it every day, but how awesome would it be if all these people did it every day? This just made my day get off to a killer start. I felt elated all the way home, chatting with a Dad who had been on the walk but who I had never see walk to school before (I had never seen most all of these folks walk to school before). Really really great.

When I got home I had some breakfast then headed to the gym for bodypump. As soon as I got home from bodypump I took off on my last training run of week three of the couch to 5K program. And that was amazing too! I had to interrupt my friends Caroline (another Caroline) and Valarie (my neighbor) who were busy cleaning and yell at the top of my lungs that I had just ran over ELEVEN MINUTES STRAIGHT! Okay, I already went on and on about that over there, so I’ll shut up, but this has been a wonderful day.

This evening I am going to a PTA meeting. It is BYOC. Bring your own cookies. So after the homework was all done this afternoon the boys and I made vegan pumpkin oatmeal cookies.

The recipe is from Roni on GreenLiteBites. She has a perfect description of it, including the recipe and nutritional information, over there if you are interested. They are super healthy and the boys actually loved them. See you at PTA!
