Spin, Pump, Vodka, Bike, Yoga, Pizza

Mack scootered and I walked to school. We’ve had huge thunderstorms almost every night and there is standing water everywhere.

The birds love it (those white blogs in the background are birds):

After I got home I drove Cal to his bus stop and then hightailed it home because I wanted to make it to spin class. I made a quick breakfast which I ended up eating in the car on the way to the gym.

Don’t worry, I steered with my knees while eating my cereal while driving. It was totally safe.

I wore my new Fitfluential t-shirt, by ViewSport.

This is seriously the softest tech t-shirt I have ever worn. They have some pretty cool designs, so check them out.

They have this cool feature of invisible printing that only shows up after the shirt is soaked with sweat.

The sweat was compliments of spin class (with my friend Britt)…

followed by BodyPump.

After I got home from the gym and showered it was time to go pick Mack up from school since Wednesdays are early release days.

By the time we got home I was starving, so I made lunch.

I can’t remember what I did after lunch yesterday, but it probably involved wasting time on the computer (obviously I didn’t blog yesterday). The next thing I have a record of is waiting for Cal at the bus stop.

Cal’s bus has consistently run late every day so far. He has been late to school, although they are not penalized this first week for tardies at all and won’t be penalized if they are late because the bus is late, and he has been super late getting back to the stop in the afternoon. Like twenty minutes later than they told us the bus would be there. I’m sure it’s a learning curve for the bus drivers also. Cal told me the driver was totally lost one day. I hope it gets better.

After we went home for a bit, it was time to head to karate for Cal’s class.

Chad met me there and we switched cars so I could go to an election victory celebration for my friend Cathy McKyton, Pinellas County’s newest judge. I should say JUDGE Cathy McKyton.

Congratulations Cathy! Pinellas County is so lucky to have you on the bench. Sorry the picture is crappy. I was having issues with my camera there for some reason. Thanks for taking the picture Karissa…I should have gotten a picture of you and me!

The celebration was at Bascom’s Chop House.

After giving Cathy a hug I headed straight to the bar…nice to have an excuse for a drink on a Wednesday night.

Although when I posted that on Instagram and Twitter, two of my friends commented that they didn’t know I needed an excuse. Touché. That’s a Ketel One and cranberry, but it was hard to detect much cranberry in there.

I hooked up with a the Shore Acres crew…

and we all toasted to Cathy.

Appetizers for dinner for the win.

Another bad photo, but that’s stuffed mushrooms, a crab cake, and a quesadilla wedge. Plus fruit and cheese. I also went back for seconds on the mushrooms and crab cake, but after my one cocktail I switched to water. After speaking with tons of friend who were there and having my appetizer dinner, I headed home. Chad and I watched Political Animals last night. Anybody watching that show? We are liking it.

Mack and I walked and scootered to school and my friend Tanya took Cal to the bus stop. We’re going to carpool to the bus stop. Thanks Tanya!

Eggbeaters scramble with leftover potatoes, onions, bell peppers, and Frank’s Red Hot sauce. Good breakfast.

I decided to bike to the gym for yoga.

I haven’t ridden Star the Trek in a while, and she felt kind of wonky. The rear tire was totally flat when I took her out of the shed, but when I pumped it up it seemed to be holding air. I decided to risk it and made it to the gym no problem.

Yoga was good. Although I miss BodyFlow, I really like the new yoga instructor on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Check out the bruise on the inside of my left lower calf:

That is from blocking a soccer ball during the Chevy Go For The Gold Challenge almost two weeks ago. The girl who kicked the ball was super gung-ho, and she kicked it hard. I was only about three feet away from her and I just stuck my foot out and blocked it. I think it exploded one of my varicose veins. It was super painful for a week and still looks pretty bad even after such a long time. It’s at that colorful stage now.

When I went back out to the bike rack my rear tire was soft again, so I pumped it back up with the mini-pump that I keep attached to my bike, and headed back home. Unfortunately, about half way home I realized that the tire was pretty flat again. I tried to pump it back up, but this time it would not hold air at all. I could hear it leaking out of the valve stem. There was nothing to be done but to change the tube.

I’m so glad I took that flat class at the Trek Store of St. Petersburg. The classes are free by the way, and they also have a free bike maintenance class that I need to take.

A couple of other cyclists stopped to asked if I needed help, but I just smiled and said, “No thanks. I got this.”

I was so proud of myself for changing that tube! I was really worried that when the time came to actually have to change a tube, I’d forget how or something. I was intimidated by the back tire especially, since you have to put it back on and all those gears and the chain are in the way. But I remembered how!

The worse part of it was having to bike home with dirty hands, even though I wiped as much of the dirt and grease off on my gym towel as I could.

I think I’m going to stick a small pack of wet wipes in my flat pack for future use.

Changing the tire did make me get home a bit later than usual, so of course I was starving by the time I got home. Lunch…

featuring Florida avocado!

Why haven’t I been eating Florida avocados all along?

It was really tasty…maybe a little milder in flavor than a California avocado, but much bigger.

After I ate lunch I decided to take Star to the Trek store for a check-up since she was so wonky this morning.

20120823-IMG_7726Wearing my Harajuku Mini t-shirt from Target, which I love.

Jayce (short for Jason?) came out to the car when he saw me getting Star out of the back. I met Jayce a while ago when my friend Jenny and I had dinner with Anne and Jayce at Ricky P’s a while back. Anne is one of the owner’s of the Trek Store. Anyway, Jayce (blue shirt below) was awesome and gave Star a quick once-over to diagnose what he thought they would need to do.

She needs a new chain and a few other adjustments. He also talked me into getting some jewelry for her.

I’m going to pick her up tomorrow. I love the Trek Store of St. Petersburg, especially now that I am the Duchess there.

I went straight from the Trek Store to pick Mack up from school.

We went home until time to pick Cal up in the car line at his school. He can’t ride the bus on Mondays and Thursdays because we have to go straight from school to karate. The bus wouldn’t get him home in time to make it. Only Mack had karate today, so Cal and I set up in the back of the parent’s viewing room and he did homework while I worked on this post.

My afternoon snack, purchased at a convenience store after buying gas right after I picked Cal up (realized I was sitting in the car line with the car running on empty), for a mere $4.00:

I really wanted something other than water and they didn’t have caffeine free Diet Coke (most convenience stores don’t, and it sucks), so I got a FUZE. I don’t love them, but I can’t drink caffeine after about 2:00 p.m. or it really affects my ability to fall asleep. I do love V8.

After karate we went by Tour de Pizza for the weekly pie.

We got our usual 14” cheese take and bake. I plan to have two slices and a salad. Or maybe I’ll sauté some of the awesome yellow squash I bought at Parkesdale Farm Market to have on the side. Yeah, that sounds good now that I’ve typed it.

Whew. That’s all I got. Chad has a bye week for his pool league this week, but he’s going to go out and practice pool with some of his buddies. My one goal for the evening is to clean off my desk.

It’s kind of a disaster and I know there is some important stuff under there.
