Whole30, Day 17

January 24, 2013 at 7:20 pm

Today I had to drive Mack to school because I had to take Cal and our carpool buddy to their school early for robotics club immediately after dropping Mack off.

Sunrise over downtown St. Pete, taken from the Interstate while driving (totally safe…I just held my camera out and took a ton of pics without looking at what I was getting, promise):

Once I got home from taking all the boys to school I made breakfast:

That is two scrambled eggs, turkey kielbasa, spinach, roasted butternut squash, and pomegranate arils sprinkled on top at the end. Tomatoes and avocado on the side. Basically the same breakfast as yesterday because it was so good the first time.

After breakfast I had to get all showered and cleaned up for a BizMom Connections meeting at Ciccio’s.

At the last BizMoms meeting, two weeks ago, I went to the gym first and then went directly to the meeting all sweaty and lovely. This time, I decided to skip Bodypump beforehand and look halfway decent because this was my last BizMoms meeting. Sad face.

I’ve enjoyed the group so much, but have decided to take a step back from possibly pursuing the blog as a bona fide business. I thought it would be kind of silly to continue belonging to a business networking group in that case. But I have met some really awesome, inspiring women and made some new friends. I’ll miss it. I hope I will still get to feature some of their businesses on the blog because they are all amazing.

The speaker at the meeting today was Paige from 1 Minute Mommy and Parenting Party.

One thing that Paige does at her parenting parties is experiential exercises with the attendees. Today we did an exercise where we had to write down which one of the following packages we would MOST not want delivered. Which one would you leave outside?

I picked “Meaningless & Unimportance” as my least desired package, as did the majority of the people in attendance. We broke up into groups based on which package was our “top card”. Interestingly, nobody in the meeting chose the “Rejection & Hassles” package as their least desirable package. As you can see, the hallmark of the “Meaningless & Unimportance” group is “Superiority”. I think maybe that says something about the type of people that join business networking groups.

In the small group we had to fill out this page:

I know, our bumper sticker is not very nice. We kept tossing around variations on the theme of personal responsibility. It was “Don’t Blame Me” in the sense of take responsibility for yourself!

Anyway, it was a very interesting and insightful exercise. It was also fun. Thank you Paige! Here are some upcoming classes from 1 Minute Mommy:

After I got home from the BizMoms meeting I got dinner into the crockpot for later.

I used a recipe I found on The Paleo Pot for Red Curry Pork Medallions.

After I got that going I made my lunch.

That’s leftover barbecue chicken, beets, avocado, orange bell pepper, salsa, lettuce/spinach/arugula, and Garlic Gold vinaigrette.

Before I could finish eating my salad it was time to go pack up Mack since Wednesday is early release day. I don’t know what we did all afternoon due to a lack of pictures. It’s hard to take pictures of myself blogging or futzing around on the internet. I think I did some laundry. Not sure.

The next pictures I have are of dinner.

The pork was tasty, but the curry flavor was very mild. We had roasted Brussels sprouts and yellow squash on the side. I gave the boys some bread and butter because they are not on the Whole30 (see, I’m not the meanest mom ever).

My dinner:

After dinner we went on the family evening walk which was my only exercise today.

After the boys went to bed I participated in the first ever Mom Power Team Twitter chat!

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-25

It was so much fun. Our hashtag #GetFitChat was trending! I have so many fitnessy friends…I wish you would all join in on our next Twitter chat and see how much fun it is. These ladies are all hilarious and REAL and kind. So much inspiration in one little group. I don’t know how I ended up being included and I’m still thinking it was some kind of mistake, but I won’t let Busy Mom Gets Fit take it back now! The Mom Power Team is stuck with me. You can click here for my Mom Power Team Twitter list and subscribe to the list and follow all the members on Twitter. I’m not sure when our next chat is going to be, but I’ll be sure to let you know. Click here to see links to all the MPT member’s Facebook pages and a short description of everyone’s fitness journey.

After the Twitter chat Chad and I watched one episode of 2 Broke Girls, then it was bedtime. That’s it for day 17. Cya.
