Whole 30, Day 25 … Chobani and house hunting

February 1, 2013 at 4:22 pm

This morning we didn’t walk to school because it was raining all night and really wet outside when we would have had to leave. So after I drove Mack to school I made breakfast.

No explanation needed, I think. Beautiful and delicious.

After breakfast I dropped Cal off at the bus stop and went to the gym for Bodypump.

After Bodypump I went home and was welcomed by a box from the Chobani fairy on our porch.

They have some new products coming out and sent me some samples as a sneak peek!

They also sent me a fancy yogurt spoon.

I’m sorry, but the boys are not allowed to use my fancy yogurt spoon.

Here’s what we got:

Woohoo! The bites are 100 calorie yogurt snacks, basically the same size as the Chobani Champions, and we got the coffee/dark chocolate and raspberry/chocolate flavors. I will definitely be setting aside one of each flavor to try after my Whole30 (just a few more days!). Cal is going to dig the coffee flavor I’m sure. I believe the bites are already available in stores, but more flavors are going to be rolling out…can’t wait to try the fig/orange peel flavor!

The tubes will be available soon, and we’ll be trying the Jammin’ Strawberry and Rockin’ Blueberry flavors.

Chobani is giving away free yogurts every week on their Facebook page. Right now they are still giving away the cups but pretty soon they are going to be giving away the tubes. I need to try those “flips” also!

After my yogurt excitement wore off I showered and straightened the house up a little more because our realtor friend was coming over. He and I went through the whole house and he made notes of all of the deferred maintenance so that he can make recommendations about what we need to do to put it on the market. There is a lot of deferred maintenance around here, believe me. Living in a house for 17 years means that you don’t really jump on repairing every little hole in the drywall. Or maybe that’s just us.

After we finished the grand tour of our hovel he took me to see a house that I’ve noticed for sale that I was curious about. It wasn’t perfect, but it was interesting and had lots of good points. Check out this awesome laundry room/mud room!

It also had a really nice pool and lanai.

We are not at the point in this process where I should be looking at houses, but I couldn’t resist. Chad is not happy about this.

After I said goodbye to our realtor friend I made lunch.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-3

That’s Applegate Farms roast beef, an egg, bell pepper, avocado, tomato, lettuce, spinach, and vinaigrette.

After lunch it was time to pick up Mack from school. He brought home some artwork.

Love these birch trees! They are an overlay.

He also brought home a mummified kumquat that they made in gifted class where they are studying ancient cultures.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-4

They basically used this method, including actual natron salt:

Luckily they didn’t have to pull kumquat brains out of a kumquat nose.

The creeper really wanted that little kumquat mummy.

After Mack had a snack and did his homework he and I drove across the bridge to the Westshore Sports Authority in Tampa to pick up my race packet for the Best Damn Race on Saturday.

I’m doing the 10K, but plan to tack on two extra miles to get in eight. I’ll be run/walking, of course. Still trying to see if my hip will hold up for the Sarasota Half Marathon. So far, my hip is feeling awesome!

On the way back into St. Pete I dropped Mack off at karate then picked up Cal from the bus stop. He and I went by Tour de Pizza to pick up the weekly pie.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-10

After I fetched Mack and we were all home I made dinner. I can honestly say that I wasn’t bothered in the least by having pizza in the house.

My Fascinating Life Caroline Calcote-13

It really held no lure for me. I was pretty excited about my salmon, roasted veggies, and golden beets.

Chad had pool league and I spent all night on a Twitter chat and futzing around on social media, as usual.

That’s it for Day 25. Cya!
