International Walk to School Day

Last night’s dinner was Paleo Pad Thai.

I based it on this recipe, but substituted cabbage for snap peas. I also added some bell pepper.

It was pretty good. I think I liked the snap peas better, but I just had some cabbage that needed to get used. Next time I might try to make it and substitute cabbage for the spaghetti squash. That was Chad’s idea.

Chewie and I walked Mack to school this morning. Taking photos while actually walking does not work so well.

Today was International Walk to School Day.

(You can read about International Walk to School Day 2012 here, 2011 here, and 2010 here.)

The group was meeting at a spot on our regular walking route, so we joined up with the group there.

There was a big crowd (yay!) and Chewie got lots of attention.

The group walked right by where that loose dog was yesterday. Luckily, no sight of him today.

It was a nice morning. It was overcast and a bit cooler. I heard that drier air is on the way. Can’t wait! I love overcast days.

Breakfast this morning was a concoction of kale, mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, grilled chicken thigh, and bacon. I sautéed all of that up and then mixed in a little Sunshine Sauce that I reserved from our Pad Thai last night. Sweet potato with butter on the side.

Such a NSNG breakfast. Dinner for breakfast. It’s a thing on the whole30 and in NSNG.

I spent part of the morning taking up a dress that was too big.

I loved the dress, but the armholes were too big and really the whole top portion was too big above the waist. I could tell by the way it was made that I could just take in the side seams under the arms pretty easily. Luckily, my sewing machine cooperated and I took it in about 3 inches on each side. Now it fits just fine. That is until I lose more weight (hopefully) and then I’ll be happy to set it aside.

That is one corner of my messy bedroom. Our bedroom is one of three areas in the house that have yet to be fully unpacked/organized. The others are the guest room (aka dumping ground) and the Harry Potter closet under the stairs. In other words, areas of the house not often seen by others. I’m thinking the guest room won’t get put together until we are under threat of impending overnight guests. After spending all summer unpacking and organizing I lost steam once all of the public areas of the house were more or less presentable. I think once the weather actually really changes (i.e. the first day I need to wear jeans instead of shorts), then I will be motivated to get all of my clothes organized and that will spur on the bedroom organization. Or I’ll just wear the same pair of jeans all winter.

Lunch was leftover Pad Thai, and then I ran to Publix before picking Mack up from school.

Now I’m off for more boy shuttling (picking up Cal, carting to karate, etc.). I think I’m going to make a simple meat sauce and pasta for the boys for dinner and I’m going to finish off the Pad Thai. Basically that’s Pad Thai for three meals today for me. Whatever. I’ll have leftover meat sauce tomorrow with something while the boys have pizza night.
