Thursday a/k/a “Pool Day”

June 14, 2007 at 6:22 pm

The boys are always excited on Thursday, because it’s the day Chad has his pool league at night. That means they get to watch TV before bed instead of going for a walk. The ritual of watching “Big Comfy Couch” and “Dragon Tales” is entrenched…since before Mack was born. Also, we usually have pizza on Thursday nights, so of course that is exciting.

We went to International Plaza this morning to return some pajamas to Gymboree. We played in the play area, looked around Build-a-Bear, and had lunch in the food court. The boys had been perfectly behaved, so I let them get soft serve for dessert. It was a perfect mall trip, until after lunch. Then Mack proceeded to throw hissy fits for no reason whatsoever. Crying and yelling in the food court. Over nothing. Could not be appeased. <<sigh>> It’s the terrible threes. I remember them so well with Cal. Now he has refused to take a nap, which he obviously needs. Lord help us going to karate this afternoon.

Finished this today:

I suck at blogging

June 13, 2007 at 8:59 pm

Hmmm, no entry since January. I suck.

I’m going to TRY to start putting all my layouts here. Wish I wasn’t such a moron about this blogging thing. My kids are over at my neighbor Val’s house right now. Ahhhh, peace and quiet. Scrapping. Cleaning. Enjoying an empty house. Val and I help each other out and watch each others kids all the time. Her kids, Joey and Jillian, are my kids best friends. Cal and Joey are the same age. Jillian is the perfect age to be a pre-babysitter for little Mack. And Mack adores her. Totally.

We had swimming this morning. Cal swims at 9:30 and Mack at 10:00. Today, my friend Katie asked if I could watch her son Reese after swimming (he’s in Cal’s class) so she could take her younger daughter Jocelyn to playgroup. Apparently 5 year old Reese does not really enjoy hanging out with a bunch of 2 year old girls. Anyway, I said sure.

While Mack was swimming, Reese and Cal played in Mrs. Walker’s toy box on the opposite side of the pool from where I was sitting. About half way through Mack’s class, Cal came running all the way around the pool and said, “Mom!” then hesitated a few seconds. I said, “What?” He said, “Um…I Love You!” then ran back to the toy box. Unprovoked. For no reason I could see. All the Moms near me chuckled and said he must be up to something. Really warmed my heart and made me feel happy. Love that boy so much.

Well, here’s a LO I did today:
