Trunk or Treat 2012

October 28, 2012 at 5:27 pm

What a weekend. As usual it was jam-packed with awesomeness. So much so that there was no time to blog and right now there is very little energy for blogging. I’m exhausted.

I don’t want to do a huge post with multiple events, so I think I’ll just take it one thing at a time and see if I ever get caught up. Life doesn’t stop though, and neither do the fascinating events that fill my days, so who knows what will end up here or how it will get here.

Friday night the boys and I headed to their school for the PTA’s Trunk or Treat event. (Click here to see a couple of photos from Trunk or Treat 2010, and click here for the full run down of Trunk or Treat 2011.)

Aliens were arriving by skateboard.

Spiderman was ready to defend the city should the aliens not be coming in peace.

20121026-DSC02406

Luckily a peaceful arrangement was made between the alien and Spiderman, at least for the moment.

We got to Trunk or Treat about an hour after it started and it was hopping.

20121026-DSC02413

Cal immediately hooked up with some of his Shore Acres alumni buddies and disappeared. My friend Christie B. had a table set up for Karna Fitness and she took this photo of Mack and me. Thanks Christie!

Before hitting up the trunks we headed to the P.E. court where they had a haunted tunnel set up.

20121026-DSC02416

It was not nearly as scary as the haunted firehouse from a few days ago, so Mack headed right in.

20121026-DSC02418

The alien came running by as we were leaving the P.E. court, so I snapped an official photo of the tentative allies.

20121026-DSC02423

Please note the alien’s shoes. Cal covered his old crocs with green duct tape. What can’t you do with duct tape?

Chad arrived about this time and we hit up the trunks together. Here’s just a few:

The kids and the grown-ups were all having a blast. The cool weather was such a nice treat this year! Most years we are all sweating in our costumes.

The trunks wound all around the school parking lot. This is one of the biggest PTA events of the year and is probably the best attended by people from all over the community.

My friend Dawn was Draculara from Monster High.

I love my friends, and yay for PDQ St. Petersburg making it onto the blog again!

Trick or Treat?

20121026-DSC02439

I should have shot some video, because these babies were creepy crawling!

This was my favorite trunk!

Mack met the president!

My Wonder Woman friend Katie and her Super Girl daughter:

The Trunk or Treat committee outdid themselves once again with the decorations.

They transformed the campus into a ghostly playground.

I tried to take an arms-length photo of Chad and me, but I kept poking him in the head with my horns.

20121026-DSC02452

I think he was afraid of losing an eye.

20121026-DSC02453

Finally we had Mack take one for us (but then I used them all anyway of course).

Super fun family Friday night!

Saturday was epic and hopefully I’ll manage to run it all down soon.

Thank you Shore Acres PTA for all that you do!

St. Raphael’s Festival

October 21, 2012 at 7:29 pm

I’ve had another jam-packed weekend. Jam-packed with fitness, fun, and awesomeness, that is. I think I’m going to dole out each event in a separate post rather than creating one of my usual never-ending tomes.

Yesterday after my one mile ocean swim and 25 mile bike ride I was beat and pretty much sat right here in my comfy office chair with my feet up for several hours. When I couldn’t avoid it any longer I finally showered and got dressed to head to the St. Raphael’s Festival right in our neighborhood with the family.

The festival is hosted by St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and has all the amenities of a big carnival with none of the drawbacks. Yes to big rides, fun games, and good food. No to big crowds and long lines. We have gone to the festival several times and always had a blast. Click here to see our evening at St. Raphael’s Festival last year (plus some other crazy stuff in that post).

They have a “little kids” area with rides geared towards the younger set and the boys hit that up first to ride the Frog Hopper.

20121020-DSC01940

After that we walked over to the main part of the carnival and came to this climbing/sliding contraption that Cal was too big to enter.

20121020-DSC01943

He’s faking an annoyed face in that photo. I could tell he was psyched to be “too big” for something. Mack was NOT too big.

Next was bumper cars.

Next was whatever this is called:

By this time it was nearing sunset so we decided to go on the Ferris wheel. I LOVE the Ferris wheel here because we get such an amazing view of our neighborhood, downtown St. Pete, and Tampa Bay.

Sunset over St. Pete:

I used the fancy panoramic function on my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 to take this one:

It was an amazingly gorgeous fall evening. This has been the most beautiful weekend. It was almost chilly last night after the sun went down!

20121020-DSC02024

20121020-DSC02026

After the Ferris wheel we headed back over to the little kids area to hit up the super slide.

Back over to the big kids’ rides. It was starting to get dark outside.

20121020-DSC02046

About this time I was too tired to stand around watching the boys ride anymore, so I went to sit and listen to the band while Chad took the boys on another round of rides.

They came and got me so that I could watch Cal ride the mechanical bull.

The festival was so pretty all brightly lit at night that we decided to ride the Ferris wheel one more time as our last hurrah.

We had a great night and saw lots of our friends. Thank you St. Raphael’s!

Tomorrow I plan to take it easy and stay home, so hopefully I’ll get around to blogging my fun events from today. I hope your weekend was as fabulous a mine.

Cya!
