Back to blogging about nothing

This morning it was back to walking Mack to school. I have missed my daily morning walks.

We are trying to do the walk sans stroller this year, since it is only Mack and I don’t have two scooters to bring home. He is putting his scooter in the bike cage at school. It’s kind of weird not having the stroller even though it didn’t actually carry children at all last year, only scooters.

Back to walking to school, back to dodging my neighbors’ sprinklers.

Seriously, we had huge thunderstorms last night. There were puddles everywhere on the walk and it rains almost every day this time of year. Why do these people need to water the sidewalk and street? Ugh.

After I got home from walking Mack to school, breakfast:

That’s turkey sausage and Van’s waffles with Parkesdale Farm Market strawberry butter.

After breakfast I went to the gym for Bodyflow. Only, they don’t have BodyFlow in the mornings anymore. The Lifestyles Family Fitness to LA Fitness changes have been afoot while I have not been doing group fitness classes. They still have my normal BodyPump classes, but the time slots that used to have my BodyFlow classes now just have yoga. So I went to yoga.

It was a pretty good beginner yoga class, but I definitely did not sweat buckets like I always did at BodyFlow. Also, I will miss my favorite BodyFlow instructor, Susan, who is no longer employed there. They didn’t have many BodyFlow instructors to start with, so I’m guessing that’s why they dropped most of the classes. They still have it on Saturday and in the evenings, so maybe I will be able to at least take the class on Saturdays.

After the gym I went by Office Depot for the third round of school supplies, then to Publix.

Once home, lunch:

After lunch I did some laundry and watched some Dawson’s Creek (don’t judge…I never watched it the first time and have lately been obsessed with watching the whole thing on Amazon Prime free streaming). Pretty soon it was time to pick up Mack and his scooter.

I took that picture for my friend Sarah Kimmel, who just posted an article on her blog, Technology for Moms, about the Skylanders game shown on Mack’s shirt. Well, I said “friend”, but actually I’m just a stalker of Sarah’s. I have a geek girl crush on her. It’s okay, though. She knows all about it.

Now it’s almost time to go pick up Cal at his bus stop. It’s so strange having the boys on different schedules.

For dinner I’m going to make the Ratatouille Sloppy Joes from the Nov/Dec 2010 issue of Clean Eating Magazine. I’ve made this recipe multiple times because it’s so awesome. I blogged the whole process and the recipe in this post. It’s more than half vegetables and looks like this when it’s finished:

Well that’s it. I’m thinking of going with Chad and the boys on the family evening walk tonight. I walked 2 miles this morning and then went to yoga. Walking another 1.6 miles would not be “excessercising”, would it?

Most boring Thursday ever

This morning was the boys’ last swim team practice for the summer (since we’ll be gone next week). While they were at practice I had breakfast.

20120719-IMG_7135Savory oatmeal with cottage cheese, eggbeaters, and Frank’s hot sauce.

After swim team practice we made strawberry/pineapple Yonanas.

With a few chocolate chips thrown in for fun (big head tiny body).

When the boys had finished their snacks we went to the gym.

I did the ModelFit mobility (foam rolling + stretching) and warm-up routines first.

I’ve gotten these routines down to about 35 minutes. I’ve just about got them memorized so that I don’t have to resort to a cheat sheet to do them. (Click here to see the entire ModelFit “Lean Body Blueprint” beginner adaptation routine including active links to all the exercises.) This plan was just for the first two weeks and this is the second week. So just as I have this routine down, Trainer Chris is going to change it up, I’m sure. That’s part of the point of his “adaptation routine”. All of the exercises are progressive and have modifications to make them more difficult as you gain proficiency. Changing the circuits up with different exercises keeps your body from adapting and becoming more efficient, thus getting less out of your work out over time.

After the mobility and warm up routines, I did 45 minutes on the elliptical.

Once home I made lunch for the boys, took a shower, then made my lunch.

20120719-IMG_7139Cobb salad with turkey, feta, red bell pepper, egg, blue cheese dressing, and spicy guacamole.

I spent most of the afternoon doing laundry.

The boys had karate this afternoon and while they were there I went to Target.

When I picked the boys up from karate they had exciting news…they are both being asked to test for the next belt (purple for Mack, red for Cal).

After karate we went to get the weekly pizza from Tour de Pizza.

I’m not eating pizza. I’m going to defrost something from the freezer for myself. Not sure what yet…there are a few healthy options in there. My diet still hasn’t been that good today. I am still caving in to the snacking. Vacation zapped my willpower. Knowing that I am going on another vacation on Sunday is not helping my mental game. This is why I’m not thin, despite being pretty dedicated to regular exercise. The food!

Chad has pool league tonight. This was the most boring blog post ever, I think.
