Tahoe Morning

February 11, 2011 at 11:49 am

I think I’m going to keep phone blogging. It was fun yesterday. My sister brought her laptop but she’s having issues with the wi-fi at the moment. Isn’t technology awesome?
Lakefront lodge and cabins
Last night we had dinner at Cutthroat’s Saloon in the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe’s main lodge. I had a buffalo steak salad which felt very “out west” to me and it was yummy.
Sunrise over Tahoe
Then I stayed up until 1 a.m. (which was 4 a.m. to my east coast internal clock) yakking with my friends all bundled up around the big gas-fueled camp fire on the beach behind our cabin. Yes, we are in a cabin right on a private beach on Lake Tahoe. Thank you Melissa!
Pier sign
Then my mom called my sister’s cell phone at 6 a.m. because she thought Janet had called her (not). Thanks Mom, love you! She is babysitting my nephew. I couldn’t go back to sleep because my exotic location was calling to me.
The pier
So I got up, made coffee, bundled up and took my mug and camera out for a walk. The sunrise over the lake was so beautiful. It was cold (around 40°) but so gorgeous that I didn’t care. I felt like I had the whole lake all to myself.
Lake Tahoe
Then I walked up to the main lodge to scope out a jogging trail that I found on a hiking trail map that I got from the front desk last night. It was a no-go…mostly ice-covered. So bummed because it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day to run outside here (sunny 50’s?). I could run on the side of the road, but that wouldn’t be safe at all since the curbs are basically plowed snow banks. So I’ll be hitting the treadmill for 4 miles today. Wahhh.

Okay, after using my sister’s laptop to look at my post yesterday (wi-fi working now) I can see that the photos suck. So I am going to post them larger today and see what happens. This is all an experiment people, so bear with me. No photo-editing capabilities and these are all cellphone photos. Also I may post multiple times in one day, which I never do. I may not. It was awkward keeping a running post yesterday. Whatever.

All the other girls are doing spa stuff today, but not me. I really don’t like spa stuff, except for mani/pedis. Sorry! Just not that kind of girl. I’m hitting the gym and exploring while they do that.
Me close up with champagne
More later. Maybe.

My Fascinating Life’s 2010 in Review

January 7, 2011 at 12:49 pm

Can I just say that I love WordPress, the platform I use for this blog? They are so cool. They sent me an e-mail reviewing the health of my blog in 2010. Although I have had this blog over four years, I have only used it off and on in that time, and just started blogging regularly again in August. So these stats really only represent about four month’s time. I love that my Fat Photos were the second most popular thing on my blog in that time, and that “boy pooping” was one of the most commonly used search engine terms used to find my blog. Here is what they sent me in the e-mail:

The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010, and here’s a high level summary of its overall blog health:

So many things about all that are really funny and make me happy. Thank you to everybody who has bothered to read my blog and especially to those of you who commented or e-mailed me. Superduper thank you to those of you who have linked to my blog or to specific posts and to those bloggers who inspire me with their candid writing (if I’ve commented on your blog, you know I love it…my blogroll is in dire need of an update). I really just blog for myself and the grandparents, but you all have kept me going. I know none of you will judge me harshly if I prioritize blogging over cleaning the bathrooms or taking down the Christmas decorations, right?

p.s. I updated my Still Running page today 🙂
