Scrapbook Saturday

Today I was in my happy place:

I spent the afternoon scrapbooking at my good friend Andrea’s house. I have been scrapbooking at Andrea’s house for over ten years (yikes). I try to scrap with her once a month, but sometimes life gets in the way. I sat with another friend (Hi Lynn!) and we just cut and pasted and talked about our kids for several hours. And Andrea always has yummy food.

Scrapbooking appeals to me on so many levels. It’s creative, social, nostalgic, and often involves shopping. I have so many friends that I’ve met through scrapbooking. It’s “me” time. Occasionally it becomes a whole weekend of “me” time, and that is awesome. My girlfriends and I have gone on many weekend scrapbooking retreats and to scrapbooking conventions. Did you know that there are even scrapbooking celebrities? I’ve scrapped with the best.

I know many people think scrapbooking is totally lame. Those people don’t need to read this blog. Why would they even want to? I’m not “cool”…I’m a 41 year old mother of two. I gave up “cool”, if I ever had it, long ago. Now I’m just a person who takes her fun where she finds it. And besides, in my circle scrapbooking often involves alcohol (but not on a Saturday afternoon at Andrea’s), so there’s that. I have even been on a scrapbooking weekend with girlfriends where no scrapbooking actually occurred. It was preempted by the alcohol. I think those photos are on Facebook 🙂

So here’s what I accomplished at Andrea’s house today:

All of these layouts are of pictures from 2007. I don’t scrapbook chronologically. I just sort of grab a photo album, pull out some random photos, and scrapbook. I usually don’t even really care WHAT I’m scrapbooking. I just like the process. Sometimes I scrapbook photos from last weekend, sometimes photos from my childhood. It’s all good.

The boys love looking at scrapbooks from when they were babies, or scrapbooks from vacations we have taken. I don’t know if I’ll keep on scrapbooking forever, but even if I don’t, the albums (the many, many albums) I’ve created so far make me happy.

This morning I took the boys to Village Inn for breakfast, then to the gym. The boys were really good in the childcare today, and I got a great workout in. Loving Lifestyles gym…the fact that they have childcare on Sunday mornings is just awesome. We were always looking for something to do on Sunday mornings, and this is the perfect choice. I am totally addicted to the elliptical machine. I always feel like I could just go and go forever on that thing. I did weights and then 30 min. on the elliptical. Just really loving it.

This afternoon Chad and the boys washed my car while I scrapbooked. I had some easter pictures from 2006 sitting on my desk that Valarie gave me, so I just slapped them down to get them out of the way…

Easter with Friends

Again, used up some old old stuff and it felt good.

I had a really good weigh-in this morning…passed a big milestone. So I am feeling so happy today!
